The Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading, is organizing the professional conference “The challenges of the European book and reading policy”, which will be held on October 16, in Pamplona, within the program of activities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The event, which will take place at the headquarters of the Royal and General Archive of Navarra, will address relevant issues such as the sustainability of the publishing sector, the right to read or European books and reading policies, all within the European framework that have to reflect on the proposals that allow the book chain to face the current and future challenges of the sector.
To this end, the Conference was divided into three presentations and three round tables, with the participation of European representatives and experts from the book chain in Spain and Europe, such as David Newman, president of the European Bioeconomy Bureau ( EBB); Luis González, general director of the Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation; Anne Bergman-Tahon, director of the European Federation of Publishers; or José Manuel Anta, General Director of FANDE (Federation of National Associations of Publishing Distributors of Spain), among other professionals, all of them supervised by the journalist Ana Requena.
The end of this event will be the joint performance of the poet Mario Obrero and the Txalapartari group Hutsun Txalaparta Taldea, who will combine a unique performance of reading poetry in different languages with the musical tradition of Navarrese .
