The president of the Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA), Hugo Fleitas, discussed the proposal of former senator Alfredo Jaeggli to pay the debts of the party under some demands that the political group must meet, among them, towards the internal elections for the change of authorities and the change of the name of the Liberal Party. For the party leader, both proposals are not in the minds of the liberals.
“Condition, analyze it within that body, the Board of Directors, the reliability or possibility of the elections that, by law, by the law itself, and because the liberal people today are not convinced to go to the elections, I believe that there is a high percentage of coincidence in that aspect in terms of the difficulty that comes in trying to advance the party’s elections,” Fleitas stated on Monday in an interview with the program “These are things” on GEN and Universo 970 AM/Nación Media.
He explained that he is not immune to new elections, as long as the liberal people make that decision. “My particular position is that I will not oppose the election if the liberal people want it and, through a convention, that any change must be made through an extraordinary convention, and now the general idea of liberal people It will not happen. In the election or even to change the name of the party, I do not know how it will help; however, it can be analyzed,” he said.
He added that a large majority of liberals do not intend to go to the election because of the financial difficulties that it represents. “We, as a broad majority sector, within the Board of Directors and the national leadership, have not yet analyzed, because there is no intention of the member, of the leader in general; it is not 100%, but the majority of the majority, to go to the election for difficulties, which means going to the partisan election,” said Fleitas.
The head of the PLRA pointed out that Alfredo Jaeggli had been summoned to present his proposals, which had already been made public and thus debated within the party, whether or not to accept the conditions and, in particular, the payment of the debt of the political group. He left EfraÃn Alegre, removed from the presidency in August by an extraordinary convention.
“We heard that there was an idea from Mr. Jaeggli; let’s remember that he is a member of the Board of Directors. We would like the proposal to be made in another place, in another environment, to prioritize it for the Political Committee and the presidency, and then publicize that idea. We sent him a note; if he could, after the conference presentation he gave last Friday, we invited him to the Board of Directors. I spoke in depth, even seriously, about the procedure,” Fleitas commented to Nación Media.
