The second vice president and Minister of Environment, Territory and Housing, Ángeles Vázquez, and the president of the Port Authority of Vigo, Carlos Botana, agreed to continue to develop ways of cooperation to advance the fight against climate change.

In a meeting they held this afternoon, they agreed on the need to take advantage of common synergies to develop joint projects in the context of environmental protection and sustainability. In fact, as emphasized by the second vice president, the Port Authority has been part of the Galician Climate Alliance since September 2022, an initiative promoted by the Xunta that continues to integrate efforts that allow Galicia to be placed at the head of the regions in Europe. .in the fight against global warming.

In addition, Ángeles Vázquez emphasized the commitment of the entity in this area to implement measures such as the calculation of the Carbon Footprint or the development of its own tool capable of measuring its own emissions and those generated by the activity of users and concessionaires of the port of Vigo.

Along these lines, the councilor positively appreciates the announcement made by the president of the Port Authority about the creation of a climate change office that provides advice to decarbonization companies with the aim of continuing to work on the project of Puerto Verde. .

During the meeting, they also discussed issues such as commitment to new fuels, renewable energies and the acquisition of CONThe 2 with the Dusk Piers project.

In addition, Ángeles Vázquez and Carlos Botana analyzed the current situation of the Salvaterra – As Neves (Plisan) industrial logistics platform, which, in particular, is the evolution of railway sidings that work, aiming to ensure that the all companies located in this area Industrial companies. can use the train for the supply of raw materials, components and the subsequent distribution of products, since it will allow shuttle trains to operate in the port of Vigo.

This siding, with a track length of 750 meters, is part of the project to provide Plisan with an intermodal transport center, which will allow connecting the so-called large area of ​​logistics activities in the Galicia Euroregion. – Northern Portugal with a train line running along it.

It should be noted that Plisan has sponsors Xunta de Galicia, Port Authority of Vigo and the Zona Franca Consortium, which will co-finance the project based on their percentage of participation in this industrial area. In total, the estimated investment to create this infrastructure is 31 million euros.
