For this reason, Gálvez Ruiz explained that the Cadereyta refinery, in addition to the loss of service of its sulfur recovery plants, is the only company in the entire region that uses fuel oil in its processes, a tin-awpollutant due to high sulfur levels.
“The truth is that President López Obrador has never cared or understood the threat of climate change and its consequences for our forests and our water reserves. “Anyone who thinks that climate change is not a fact is completely wrong,” he said during the Truth Conference.
He added that he will remain attentive to the request of the citizens to close the Cadereyta refinery, which is a source of contamination and illness for millions of people. “Today, Mexico is one of the countries with the greatest dependence on fossil fuels; almost 90 percent of our energy comes from fossil fuels,” he said.
He emphasized that one of the worst consequences of climate change is drought and water scarcity, as suffered by the Valley of Mexico, a region that is about to experience the worst water crisis in history, which has had a severe impact on farmers. in the price of food.
