The Cuban President spoke to the members of the Legislature headed by Esperança Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias, with whom he exchanged friendly words
The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique (unicameral Congress) received the President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, this Friday during his official visit to the country.
This Friday afternoon, the Cuban President met with the deputies of the Legislature headed by Esperança Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias, with whom he exchanged friendly words.

After the meeting, Daz-Canel went to the Plaza de los Héroes in the city of Maputo, where he laid a wreath as a symbol of honor.
The President of the Caribbean State laid a wreath on behalf of the Cuban people in homage to those who led Mozambique’s independence process and the construction of the new country after liberation.
After a brief ceremony, Daz-Canel and the delegation accompanying him on his African trip toured the holy place and witnessed typical Mozambican dances, the island’s presidency reported on its X account, formerly Twitter.
The star-shaped crypt houses the remains of the country’s key independence heroes, including Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) founder Eduardo Mondlane and the country’s first post-independence president, Samora Machel.

He later went to the Marcelino dos Santos Clinic, a center that commemorates one of the founders of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and where both countries are running a project for specialized care for people with diabetes.
The Cuban head of state arrived in the African country in the morning, where he spoke with his counterpart, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
The President of Mozambique then reiterated his country’s condemnation of the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed on Cuba by the United States for more than 60 years and reiterated his solidarity with the fraternal people of the Caribbean country.

Mozambique is the homeland of all Cubans, he stressed in statements to the press, in which, in addition to the historic cooperation in areas such as health, he thanked the island for the help given to the island in times as difficult as the COVID-19 pandemic and education.
According to the Cuban Presidency’s Twitter account, Nyusi advocated deepening these ties and bringing them closer together in areas such as the biotechnological industry and agriculture.
