Smart presented the second model of its new era in Europe – back in April of this year at the Shanghai Motor Show – now as a brand of the industrial groups Mercedes-Benz and Geely. This is No. 3, an SUV with a five-door coupe body. 4.40 m long, 1.84 wide, and 1.60 high; That is, it is longer (up to 13 cm more), wider (two centimeters) and lower (4 cm) than No. 1. The center distance also increases: it is 3.5 cm.
However, the platform used by Smart is the same, as Geely’s SEA, which is also shared by other models such as the Volvo EX30 or the Zeekr X, also sold in European markets.
This platform supports at least the development of versions with a single motor – always synchronous with permanent magnets – on the front axle or with two, one on each axle. Both are used in Smart #3, which like #1 has one Variant with 272 hp (200 kW) in the first case and 428 hp (315 kW) when a later variant with 156 hp (115 kW) is installed.
With a single motor, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of the 272 hp Smart #3 occurs in 5.8 s compared to 3.7 for the twin motor, while the top speed is 180 km/h in all cases.
The lowest power is combined with the levels Pro+, Premium, and 25th Anniversary finish – commemorating the start of production of the Smart City Coupé –; the second only does it with the Brabus. They all have the same lithium-ion battery, one with NCM chemistry and a total capacity of 66 kWh – 62 useful – which allows greater autonomy in the lower power variants. with a load between 435 and 455 km, compared to 415 for all-wheel drive.

The special 25th-anniversary commemorative series includes a panoramic roof with LEDs inside the glass pane or an interior with leather upholstered seats. It also features some decor elements carried over from the Premium and Brabus versions, as well as the 13-speaker Beats sound system. Also the standard 10-inch head-up display in the remaining equipment variants except Pro+.
The Brabus, in turn, is characterized by special steering coordination and larger tire cross-sections, metallic pedals, or another artificial engine sound. How Premium also offers ambient lighting or a Beats sound system.
The Smart #3 Premium, Brabus, and 25 Anniversary have, among other things, driving assistance systems for automatically carrying out parking maneuvers as well as headlights with all functions with LEDs and adaptive functions.
From the Pro+ level, the basic version, the infotainment system with a 12.8-inch central screen, or the instrumentation with an additional 9.2-inch screen are standard. as well as flush door handles, highway driving assistant, vehicle blind spot detectors, traffic sign recognition, parking sensors, peripheral vision cameras, or wireless charging.
If the 1,000 euro price difference between Smart No. 1 and No. 3 in the German market – the only one for which coupe SUV prices have been announced so far – shifts to Spain, the tariff price of this new model would start at 44,400 euros with the Pro+ version.
