The gem of the Spanish company Alpha Unmanned Systems continues to show signs of an unstoppable takeoff. It is the Alpha 900 UAV unmanned helicopter, a 25-kilogram work of Spanish engineering, capable of carrying a load of four, but with flight autonomy of up to four hours, which has already overcome even the US Army, through a contract with the Department of Defense.
According to the special media InfoDefensa, today the Alpha 900 also takes a giant leap when it comes to the Spanish Armed Forces. This technology, provided by the Matacán School Group (Gruema) to the General Directorate of Armament and Material (DGAM), successfully obtained the Certificate of Airworthiness for Experimentation (CAE).
This is an important certification, as it allows this unmanned helicopter to function as another Air Force aircraft. Specifically, it will be done within the Rapaz program and will serve to provide the Military School of Unmanned Aerial Systems (Emuas) to train professionals in the operation of rotary wing aircraft – type –helicopters.
What is the Alpha 900 for?
The Alpha 900 are small helicopter that stands out for its ability to fly and land automatically on mobile platforms. As in other cases, they are powered by gasoline. According to InfoDefensa, these autonomous vehicles have reached nine countries on four continents, with different purposes and functions such as maritime safety control, inspection of power lines, mapping work, or even proper agriculture.
