A first look trailer for The Time Traveler’s Wife’s six-part series was released Tuesday—and it’s set to rival the 2009 film from Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana.
With Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie, 35, as Claire, and Theo James, 37, as time traveler Henry, the Sky Atlantic show will follow their complicated romance.
Set to be released on Now in May, the teaser follows Claire describing how hard Henry is having trouble one minute and disappearing the next.

The camera then makes him realize that the kitchen sink has overflowed as Henry travels back in time after running the faucet.
It also follows Henry’s journey as he struggles with living in the present as he finds himself traveling back to his childhood and future past.

The scenes show Henry as a child in the back of a car with his mother, moments before a car accident and as an adult being chased by police naked in the streets.
Claire, who appears to be healing, says: ‘When he is gone, I wait and I worry. I wonder where he is, when. If he is in danger.’
It also follows Henry’s journey as he struggles to live in the present.

The show is based on the 2003 Audrey Niffenegger novel, The Time Traveler’s Wife, which follows the story of a married couple who deal with time travel in their romance.
The network described the upcoming series as a ‘complex and magical love story’, adapted by executive producer Steven Moffatt (Sherlock, Doctor Who) and director David Nutter (Game of Thrones).
Leslie’s character Claire is described as ‘fiery, shrewd and unstoppable’ with a longtime imaginary friend – whom she will come to learn is James’ character Henry, a time traveler from her future.

The two meet by chance at the library where he works, and as he claims a ‘condition’ that causes him to fall into ‘past or future’, at no point does he know who he is. He is very good, despite knowing her.
The book was previously adapted into a film starring Rachel and Eric, but it was ordered three years before a direct-to-series after Moffat and Nutter took over.
Moffat told Deadline at the time: ‘After all these years, the chance to adapt the novel itself is like a dream come true.
‘The brave new world of long-time television is now poised for such depth and complexity … It’s a forever happy story – but not necessarily in that order.’
