The two MG “balls” to wait until 2024 to buy a new car

MG has already warned that they will be launched in the next two years several new models, and little by little we learn what exactly they prepare. There are two novelties concretely, which are planned for the next time year 2024 and they actually do worth the wait in case we are thinking about buying a new car. Because? Well, because they will be very cheap options compete within the category in which they will compete and still strive much better than its competitors in several important respects. Let’s see why these two new models are so relevant.

The first of them, about which much has been said, is that MG ZS hybrid. It seems it will come from the hand of one model updateboth aesthetically and in terms of equipment, which will of course also be present eco label the DGT. The MG ZS has become a complete success in Spain, where it was already the sixth best selling car of the country, but that is obvious a hybrid version is missing with ECO label and available from the next year 2024. It will not cost 13,990 euros that costs the cheapest MG ZS, but it will be again the cheapest option stand out from its competitors.

It’s not entirely clear yet what mechanics will arrive with the MG ZS hybrid, but it positions itself between the current MG ZS with a 106-hp heat engine and the all-electric version marketed as the MG ZS EV. And it should make it difficult for both models, Segment B and, in some cases, Segment C. However, here the one who competes is the MG HS, which, in addition to a thermal version, also has the MG EHS, a very economical and recommendable plug-in hybrid variant with the DGT Zero label.

And on the other side is this Successor to the MG 3, which we have commented on several times but have not yet confirmed will be launched under that name. Anyway, this release, the Yes, it will come to SpainAlthough the current MG 3 is not sold here today, it is described as a competitor to the successful Dacia Sandero and other options like the Hyundai i20 or the Seat Ibiza, For example. Come on, it’s going to be one small car, the MG 4, with an electrified heat engine, and again with an eco-label, the DGT.

What is expected of the MG 3 is that it will cost about 12,000 euros in the most economical version of the range, matching the price of the Dacia Sandero and becoming a much more relevant option than the i20, the Ibiza, and the rest of the small cars. And the key to this model will be just that electrification. MG seems to have ruled out an electric version to reduce its development and production costs, but everything indicates that it will be available in all its versions under the eco-label DGT.

And although, as you probably already know, the Dacia Sandero can also be bought with an ECO label, it has a problem: it gets this label with one bi-fuel engine. That it can run on petrol or LPG and that it has quite high consumption. In addition, and delving into the ‘problems, The Dacia Sandero is a car that comes with very little equipment included as standard, yet the MG 3 should stand out as a car much better equipped even in the most economical versions of its range.
