One of Colombia’s biggest attractions for foreigners is its great gastronomic diversity, as each region has its own flavors. However, it seems that not all typical Colombian dishes are well received. TasteAtlas, a renowned food guide, has ranked the world’s worst foods. We show you the typical Colombian foods that are part of this classification.
The ranking is entitled “The 10 Worst Fast Foods in the World” and is drawn up annually. The organization depends on the votes of the audience, which evaluates three aspects: ingredients, dishes and drinks. “As of July 5, 2023, 47,278 reviews had been registered, of which 31,037 were recognized as legitimate by the system. The TasteAtlas ranking should not be taken as the definitive global conclusion on food.
Colombia ranked 10th and 2nd, respectively. The two dishes were the bun, or wrap, and the culonas ants.
The wraps are made from corn, cassava, or potatoes and wrapped in banana leaves. There is also cheese and sometimes raisins. On the Caribbean coast, they are eaten with buttermilk, and in Bogotá, they are prepared with a sandwich in the middle.
It is usually eaten for breakfast or as a snack with coffee or chocolate.


These insects come out of the ground around April every year and are caught by the farmers and then roasted. Its strong and savory flavor is so important to Barichara’s gastronomy that two monuments have been erected to it in the municipality: one at the entrance and the other in the Municipal House next to the main square.
