Although something has always happened that prevented their projects from thriving, Will Smith and Steven Spielberg were on the verge of moving forward with four films that ended up on the shelf or were recast in some other sense.

The first case was The gradea film written by the creator of Dead Pool, Rob Liefieldwith which many similarities were to be expected Indiana Jones, particularly in topics such as the occult. Unfortunately, some aspects such as merchandising led to Smith and Spielberg parting ways just as the deal seemed almost complete.

Will Steven Spielberg and Will Smith make a film together?

Another attempt was the unfortunate film Harvey about a man who has an almost 2 meter tall rabbit as an imaginary friend. This remake had Will Smith as one of the contestants Tom Hanks and Robert Downey Jr. also in combat. Apparently Steven Spielberg wasn’t happy with any of them and since he didn’t find what he was looking for, the project was put on hold.

Another remake could have united Will Smith and Steven Spielberg: old man. The Hollywood version of the South Korean film was announced too quickly with great fanfare. In fact, it never came to fruition because DreamWorks couldn’t get the rights. In 2013, the remake was released with Josh Brolin as director, but it was a disaster at the box office.

The last attempt at collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Will Smith also dates back to the 2000s and was also made into a film, but without either of them: The trial of the Chicago 7.

The director had that Movie and he planned to have Will Smith play Bobby Seale. Unfortunately, the 2007 writers’ strike ended the project, and it would be more than a decade before it saw the light of day on Netflix.

It’s clear that things won’t work out if fate doesn’t cooperate. It’s possible that the future will bring Steven Spielberg and Will Smith together in a film, or this chain of misfortunes will continue.
