The USA women’s volleyball team won the third edition of the Final Six Pan American Cup this Saturday with a 3-1 comeback against the host team, the Dominican Republic.
The North Americans were unbeaten with six wins as they defeated the Queens of the Caribbean, who won the first set 24-26 but were down by 25-18, 25-20, and 25-21 in the following sets.
The Dominican women’s team won the 2021 and 2022 editions.
The Americans dominated in attacks (132–117), blocks (42–32),, and serves (99–85) in a game that lasted two hours and 10 minutes today.
Simone Lee, voted MVP of the tournament, led the American sextet’s campaign. Today he contributed 29 points, 26 in attack and 3 in block.
Sarah Parsons also stood out with 18 points, while Taylor Mims contributed 14.
For the Dominicans, Yonkaira Peastood out with 17 goals, while Jineiry Martinez and Gaila Gonzalez each scored 10 goals.

The Cuban team took the bronze medal of the tournament by beating Mexico 3-1 in what was at times a very even game.
The Cubans dominated on offense (49-42) and blocking (15-4) but not on serve (4-10) during this Saturday’s game before the final.
The Islanders’ attack was led by Diaris Pérez Ramos with 13 points, including 9 in attack, three in blocking and one on serve, while her teammate Jessica Aguilera had 13 points and Laura Suárez and Ivy May Vila finished with 11 points each, many.
Of the Mexico team, Greece’s Esther Castro stood out with 22 points (19 in attack and three in service), Karen Paola Rivera with 14 and Karina Rodríguez with 7.
The Canadian team defeated Puerto Rico in three sets (25-12, 25-12 and 25-13) to take fifth place.
The teams participating in the 2023 Final Six Cup travel to Canada on Sunday to compete in the Continental Cup, which is scheduled to begin on September 7th.
