Washington has increased aid to the Jewish State following an attack by the Palestinian Hamas militia
The United States is sending an aircraft carrier and destroyers on Sunday to the Eastern Mediterranean to support Israel in the war unleashed with Gaza due to Hamas attacks against Israeli territory.
The Pentagon reported in a statement that it mobilized the US Navy aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, in addition to the guided missile cruiser USS Normandy, as well as the guided missile destroyers Thomas Hudner, USS Ramage, USS Carney, and USS Roosevelt.
This was also announced by the Secretary of Defense of the United States, Lloyd Austin Washington, who will provide Israel’s army with “additional equipment and resources, including ammunition, between this Sunday and the following days.
“The material support we are rapidly providing to Israel underscores the strong support of the United States to the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli people,” Austin emphasized.
The president of the United States, Joe Biden, spoke in a call this Sunday with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that “more American aid” for his country is “on the way.”
There are more than a thousand dead in Israel due to land, sea, and air attacks by the Islamist group Hamas that surprised the country last Saturday. This represents a national tragedy for a state that has not suffered so many deaths in just one day in its entire history since its establishment in 1948, despite the many armed conflicts it has experienced.
On the Palestinian side, Israel’s bombardment of Gaza has left at least 413 dead and more than 2,300 injured.
