The Short Distance Trail (PR®-A 420) “Viewpoints and Cliffs of Torrenueva Costa”, proposed by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FADMES), received the most votes in this annual competition to select and award the Best Approved Trail in Spain .
At the beginning of the year, the various Autonomous Federations of Mountain and Climbing Sports involved in the national Federation presented their proposals or nominations up to a maximum of three routes in their respective territories. The route of “las Aldeas de poniente”, “los Molinos de Ciudadeja” and “Miradores y cliffs de Torrenueva Costa”, are the three approved Andalusian routes that participated in the second edition of this competition to choose the best of the country, which is organized. through the Spanish Federation of Mountain and Climbing Sports (FEDME) and where voting is possible, in the Step by Step APP, until the end of September.
The proposals must be paths certified or approved by the regional federations, as long as they are routes open to pedestrian traffic, running through protected or exceptional natural spaces and with a minimum length of 6 km .
Among all the proposals presented, the Valuation Commission nominated 9 paths from different parts of the country as finalists, where the Miradores and Cliffs of Torrenueva Costa ended up having the most votes.
The award-winning path was approved by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking, on June 21, 2021, and declared a path for sports use in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia in February 2022, according to the procedure regulated by Decree 67 / 2018, March 20.
The efforts made in the trail infrastructure of the Torrenueva Costa City Council show a strong commitment on the part of the City Council and with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Granada, to develop a network of safe and well preserved way In addition, these initiatives also have a positive impact on the deseasonalization of local tourism and the regional economy. Good conditions and connected paths encourage the arrival of tourists interested in active tourism and practicing outdoor sports, which in turn promotes the development of tourist services and job creation.
