The war in Ukraine is entering a new stage, the balance of forces at the front is changing – Borel

The war in Ukraine is entering a new phase. Military assistance from Western countries allowed Ukraine to stop the Russian offensive and change the balance of forces at the front.

European Union High Representative Josep Borrell wrote about this in his blog today. As reported by Ukrinform, this material was published on the website of the European External Action Service on Ukraine’s Independence Day.

“For six months of this war, Russia occupied twenty percent of the territory of Ukraine and a large part of the Black Sea coast. At the same time, the war is clearly entering a new phase. In addition, the West’s Thanks to military aid, Ukraine was able to stop the Russian invasion and, according to the latest reports, to liberate some areas, especially in the south of the country near Kherson. The high-ranking representative of the European Union said, “Russia There have been several effective attacks on ammunition depots and military bases within the illegally occupied areas of the U.S.

He stated that these attacks undoubtedly had symbolic and psychological effects on the Russian invasion forces, and at the same time contributed to the strengthening of the morale of the Ukrainians.

“The balance of power on the ground is changing. Ukrainians, more than ever, are determined to fully reclaim their national territory, as President Zelensky said yesterday at the Crimean Forum (Crimean Platform – ed.), So let us be clear: Ukraine deserves our continued assistance to do this. It is important to remember these days that the Russian offensive against Ukraine did not begin on 24 February, but the date of the illegal occupation of the Crimean peninsula It was,” Borrell insisted.

As already mentioned, for the first time in its history, the European Union provided military assistance to a country in an open conflict. Since the start of the Russian offensive, within the framework of the so-called European Peace Fund, the European Union has allocated five tranches of aid to Ukraine totaling 2.5 billion euros. The majority of this amount is directed toward Western weapons purchases to ensure Ukraine’s ability to defend itself, with the rest to finance the supply of fuel, protective equipment and medical equipment.

According to the estimates of European institutions, the military aid that Ukraine receives on a bilateral basis from European countries is much more than this amount.
