The world must prepare for a pandemic even more deadly than COVID: WHO?

He said the possibility of a new variant emerging remains a hidden threat

The world must prepare for the next pandemic, which could be “even more deadly” than COVID-19, warned World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

According to the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, the head of the body is aware that the possibility of a new variant emerging remains a hidden threat.

“The threat of another emerging variant causing new waves of disease and death remains. And the threat of another emerging pathogen with even more deadly potential still persists,” he said.

Although the QVI recently declared the end of the health crisis due to SARS CoV-2, the official declared that “it is not the end of it as a threat to health”, and stated that there is still a threat of new waves of infections. and deaths.

“When the next pandemic strikes and it does well, we must be prepared to respond comprehensively, summarily and equitably.”

In this sense, he added that it was established that everyone should sign a series of duties to cope better with the health emergency and not to fall into the errors of 2020, when the authorities took a surprise in-Covid-19.

“I call on each state to agree and urgently negotiate a pandemic agreement (…) so that the world never again faces the devastation of a pandemic like COVID,” said Tedros.
