The Xunta de Galicia is considering the budgets for 2024 actions worth more than 1.6 million euros for the improvement of the port of Celiiro, in the town of Lugo in Viveiro. This was confirmed this morning by the Minister of the Sea, Alfonso Villares, during a visit to the municipality where he explained the port projects planned for the area.
The head of Mar, accompanied by the president of Portos de Galicia, José Antonio Álvarez, and the head of the territory of the department, Mariña Gueimunde, explained that in 2024 an amount of 625,000 euros will be collected for the implementation of the expansion of the works . at Celiiro port facilities. The works will allow the expansion of 70 new mooring spaces in the port. This action is currently under tender and has a budget for its implementation next year.
This project consists of the installation of new berthing places using floating pontoons and the relocation of one of the existing sports pontoons, to cover the needs of the entire existing professional fleet (th -3 list) and entertainment crowd (7th list). For the 3rd list, 18 new areas of height between 8 to 14 meters are considered and for the 7th list, 52 areas of 6 meters height.
Alfonso Villares also reported that the budgets of the Xunta for next year also include something of 30,000 euros for the first processing of the project to expand the breakwater of Celiiro. This action, with an estimated multi-year cost of one million euros, is subject to environmental and administrative processing to formalize the necessary land assignment, a procedure that depends on the central government.
Finally, during his visit to Viveiro, the councilor also visited the network warehouse, where the rehabilitation Portos de Galicia invested almost 400,000 euros with the aim of adapting it to new existing uses. He also confirmed the completion of work on the nautical fishing building, which was done by the Brotherhood with funding from the FEMP (European Maritime and Fisheries Fund) managed by the Department of the Sea.
Four million for A Mariña
Alfonso Villares highlighted at the maritime-port sector meeting in Viveiro the strong investment effort planned by Portos de Galicia for the port of A Mariña in Lugo. The head of the Sea explained that the 2024 Budget considers investments in a total of seven actions in the port of Mariña de Lugo that represent a global annuity of 4 million euros for 2024 and whose total -the amount of planned works (with multi-year financing) will reach 14 million.
Thus, he explained that the Xunta plans to invest in works to strengthen housing and the expansion of facilities for small boats in Celiiro, the conditioning of the areas of San Cibrao, the strengthening in the Burela settlement, the improvement of the Morás settlement, the remodeling of the Foz dock and the dredging of the Ribadeo dock.
The set of the 2024 Budget of the Xunta de Galicia exceeds 13,250 million euros and is both the highest in history and the first in 16 years to avoid debt. They have strengthened the tax reductions for Galician taxpayers at the same time that they have allocated the highest social expenditure disbursed, almost ten billion euros, also allocating 2.8 billion euros to investments. In fact, the province of Lugo is the one that will receive the most investment per inhabitant, with 5,568 euros per capita, within the commitment of the Government of Galicia to favor the territorial balance between the Atlantic and eastern provinces.
