The Xunta will launch a mobile radiology unit to bring this service closer to semi-urban

The Minister of Health, Julio García Comesaña, accompanied by the general director of Health Planning and Reform, Sofía López Linares and the mayor of the Ordes City Council, José Luis Martínez Sanjurjo, visited the health center of this city hall and held a meeting with the staff of the health center and with members of the management team of the health area of ​​Santiago de Compostela and Barbanza to report on the launch of the Xunta of a mobile radiology unit that will serve health centers such as Ordense.

The head of the health portfolio announced that this group will start its activity on a pilot basis in rural and semi-urban health centers in the health area of ​​Santiago de Compostela and Barbanza, with the aim of evaluating its possible extension to all Galician. The contract for its acquisition was published this week in the Galician Contract Platform for the amount of 373,890 euros.

The mobile It has an access and reception area for patients and another for examinations, with a changing room and sink. This scanning area must have a lead shield to protect from ionizing radiation from the equipment. Also, it has a raised platform to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.

The file also considers the need for the radiology team to have direct digital technology that allows the total integration of diagnostic images and radiation doses received by the patient in Sergas corporate information systems, especially in the IANUS electronic medical record system.

The contract will be financed by the funds received from the Ministry of Health through the Primary Care Infrastructure Improvement Plan (MINAP) since, thanks to the good situation of Galicia in terms of primary care infrastructure, with the investment since 2009 that more than 130 million euros to build. o repair 115 health centers and with a Primary Care Infrastructure Plan implemented since 2021, the Xunta can allocate these state funds to provide its centers with new diagnostic equipment.

In fact, the Ordes health center itself is undergoing expansion work worth 436,000 euros to accommodate mental health consultations and a biomass boiler worth almost 160,000 euros is about to be installed.

New equipment for Ordes primary care

On the other hand, the councilor informed the professionals of the Ordes health center about the supply of new electromedical equipment and clinical equipment within the contracts in which Sergas will invest more than 17 million euros throughout Galicia.

Thus, Ordes’ primary care staff will receive a retinograph, an ambulatory blood pressure monitoring device (which the patient carries at home for one or two full days of their daily life, and allows the diagnosis of the existence or evolution of hypertension) and two multidiagnostic devices (technology. which, through a tablet with different accessories, allows different diagnostic tests to be performed on the same device such as electrocardiograms, blood pressure measurements, control of the ankle-brachial index to avoid thrombi or spirometries for the diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory pathologies), in addition to clinical furniture consisting of 21 new examinations , transport and physiotherapy stretchers.

In this way, the Xunta is committed to more decisive primary care through a greater diagnostic capacity to, first, better prevent the disease and achieve early diagnoses that avoid subsequent complications in those patient and, secondly, can improve the follow-up of chronic and multipathological patients, which are increasing in Galicia, and who require specific attention from the entire primary care team.
