The new film The Nun hits theaters on September 8th. That is, this Friday at the time of writing these lines. The Warrenverse continues to grow even as the main film series, The Warren Files, is still on hiatus awaiting the development of its fourth installment, which will initially close the storylines of the characters played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Although we know little about The Warren File 4, The Nun 2 could make a connection to this future film, Michael Chaves, the director responsible for the sequel to Valak’s story, revealed in an interview
The Nun 2 may hint at some details of The Warren File 4, and the director challenges fans to find any connections to the Warrenverse.
During an interview for ScreenRant, Chaves was asked about The Nun 2’s connections to the rest of the saga, and he replied, “No comment. I don’t know; you have to see the movie! I think I do, but I do.” “I don’t want to give anything away if there’s anything that suggests something. I’d love to be surprised as a fan,” began the filmmaker, who is also directing The Warren File 3. “I encourage fans to explore.” If there is, I think the film is full of references. The Warren Files universe has been around for 10 years, and there are many threads leading up to this moment and this film. I look forward to people discovering it.” In other words, we could see the introduction to The Warren File 4 through The Nun 2, or at least find out what we’ll see in the next volume.
The Nun 2 launches on September 8th, and it looks like it’s going to be full of hints. Taissa Farmiga returns to face the demon portrayed by Bonnie Aarons alongside Storm Reid, Anna Popplewell, Katelyn Rose Downey, and Jonas Bloquet. No release date has yet been set for The Warren File 4. It may take longer than expected to hit theaters due to the ongoing actor and writer strike.
