There is a lot of talk about amnesty instead of tax cuts

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Popular Party, insisted on his criticisms of the alliances made by Pedro Sánchez to be sworn in again as president of the Government in the coming weeks. Especially, the amnesty of fugitive politicians is again under attack because of their links to process.

“There’s a lot of talk about amnesty and self-determination instead of talking about job creation or tax cuts, we’re talking about self-determination,” he said. “It doesn’t make sense that politicians think more of themselves than the citizens they serve. “If a politician gives the condition set by another politician, it does not serve the general interest of the citizens.”

In this sense, the Galician politician recalls that “we are going through the biggest price increase since the last century”, and says that families are losing income and suffering more tax pressure. According to Galician, at least 40 tax figures have been increased “If we lose income and pay more taxes than before, it is clear that Spain is not doing well.”

Núñez Feijóo has been one of the classic interventions at the National Congress of Family Business, held this Monday in Bilbao. There the popular leader addressed these issues. “If something fails, it’s officially an economic victory. The good thing about the economy is that the data can hardly be commented on,” recalled the drop in business confidence in recent weeks.

“The majority of Spaniards will live worse in 2023 than in 2018,” he said. In this sense, he recalled that public employment grew three times faster than private employment, debts skyrocketed, real wages fell to 5.5% in 2022 and GDP per citizen widened the gap to average in Europe. ,.

All this was in the context where “Spain is the country that raises the tax pressure the most”, when it was lowered by 14 states out of 27 in the European Union.

In this framework, Núñez Feijóo proposes to solve the situation (among other things, the rising public debt) with various structural reforms to restore traditional sectors, such as agri-food.

Reforms

It also put on the table changes to the energy policy framework to “overcome the deficit of the loss of fossil resources” by promoting solar and wind sources.

It is also committed to the development of employment service which allows, with the high unemployment rate in Spain, to fill many vacancies, and to develop industry.

Furthermore, he stated that A general reduction of taxes should be faced. He gave as an example the tax reduction made this year in the PP autonomies, after the regional elections. He assured that taxes worth 2,000 million euros have been reduced. “We continue to think that with taxes contained, wealth will not decrease, but will increase. We should not end up with wealth but with poverty.”
