Nutritionist Dr. Rohini Patil suggests top three foods that are not healthier than you think.


gluten free diet
When you stop eating gluten-containing products, you may feel more hungry and feel less energetic. Suddenly changing your entire diet and lifestyle can lead to many health problems like nausea, headaches and many other problems. You may experience sudden weight gain or weight loss. It can also cause intestinal problems like constipation. Going gluten free should be a slow process where you gradually cut out gluten products and replace them with healthier alternatives.

Porridge-like dishes Yes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day but a sugary breakfast and nothing but sugar is one of our worst habits today. Many parents feed their children chocolatey, sugary cereals without considering the consequences. Eating sugary cereals daily leads to weight gain, low energy, it ruins your sugar level and many other health related problems. Cereals with a lot of sugar can make you feel hungry after a while due to the increase in your insulin. Cereals which are high in fiber and low in sugar are available in the market. You just have to find the right one for you. A healthy alternative to cereal can be a fruit salad with all your favorite fruits. They are fresh and healthy.

Acai Bowls – Although they look innocent, one of the biggest problems with acai bowls is that they are full of sugar, especially if they are store-bought. If they are not made with the right ingredients they can cause diabetes, heart problems etc. Many acai bowls are made with added preservatives that do more bad than good. Make sure the acai bowls you prepare include all-natural ingredients and are made fresh. Smoothies in acai bowls should be low in sugar, or even better sugar-free. Use fruits and toppings that suit your taste and your body. Acai bowls are intended to be a refreshing and healthy meal, but store-bought acai bowls are made with preservatives and added sugar to taste and make them consumable for a longer period of time. A healthier version of the acai bowl can be made with a homemade sugar-less smoothie that can be equally tastier and more healthy.
