According to the CNN channel, Texas continues to be the state with the most participation in this regard before the opening of schools today, and already has over 5.4 million ballots.
Meanwhile, more than 4.9 million ballots were sent in Florida and over 4.7 million in California.
Georgia, with about 2.5 million ballots, and North Carolina, with 2.1 million, are the other states with more than 2 million so far.
As the network explains, the number of votes will increase as more mail is distributed, voters distribute their ballots and election officials update their figures.
The television station reported that polling ahead of election day was ahead of the 2018 pace in every state for which data for the last three cycles are available.
However, it is too early to say whether the total turnout will reach the level four years ago, as the voting pattern may change.
Americans will elect 35 of the 435 members of the House of Representatives and 100 senators in the November 8 elections.
By estimates, there are generally fewer people participating in the midterm election than those in the general election, and supporters of the president’s party (in this case, Democrat Joe Biden) vote less than the party’s strength.
Sites specializing in political analysis, such as FiveThirtyEight, give Republicans an advantage of winning seats in the Senate and House of Representatives, which will complicate the president’s management in the two years he has left in the White House.
Some congressional districts will have conclusive data tonight, but a final partisan breakdown from the House is likely to take weeks.
