They raise money to buy a house for an orphan in Granma

A Cuban humanitarian aid group is sponsoring a fundraising project aimed at buying decent housing for an orphan boy named Christopher, who is undergoing surgery after accidentally ingesting acid.

According to activist Michaela Días García, several people showed their support for the little one through social networks and started donating.

The minor lives with his grandmother in Granma because his mother abandoned him and his father took his own life.

“Within 48 hours of the case coming to light, our group rallied 141,340 Cuban pesos“, describes the publication in the Facebook group “Denouncement of the crimes in Cuba”.

In local currency (wire transfer), 42,700 pesos were collected, $386 was received via cell or Paypal, and $25 was collected in freely convertible currency.

“All currencies were converted to the local currency (according to the current exchange rate) which paid the final amount,” explains the activist, who will publish another publication next Sunday to update the figures.

The project provides for buying a decent home for the boy and his grandmother, as well as furniture and some household appliances.
