Based on a complaint received, on April 25 of this year, by the Consulate of Ecuador, regarding the illegal deprivation of liberty of at least 30 Ecuadorian citizens, Thursday morning April 27, the Specialized Unit for Combat Kidnapping (UECS) of the Prosecutor of Sonora conducted a joint operation in Sonoyta, municipality of Plutarco Elías Calles, Sonora, which allowed the rescue of 63 people of different nationalities.
In a special operation, derived from investigative and intelligence actions, it was possible to locate the place of imprisonment in a cuartería in the city center, where the UECS elements were accompanied and supported by personnel from the various operational bases of the Ministerial Agency for Criminal Investigations (AMIC), and elements of the Secretary of Homeland Defense (Sedena), National Guard, and Sonoyta Municipal Police.
They save 63 people after a report from Ecuador
A total of 50 adults and 13 minors were safely rescued, of which 43 from were Ecuador, 9 from Colombia, 5 from were Mexico, 4 from Venezuela, one from Peru and ,one from the Dominican Republic.
Once released, the victims were treated by the coroner, who confirmed their excellent state of health, furthermore the ,Sonora prosecutor’s office offered accompaniment and psychological assistance by the Victim Care Center (CAVID), and legal advice on their migration situation. .
F.its part, the Specialized Nucleus for the Fight against Kidnappings continues with the investigations into the events that led to the illegal deprivation of liberty of these people, andtries to identify who or who participated in the forced detention of migrants.
