This is the most important factor to consider when buying shower gel and toothpaste

We Spaniards are among the Europeans who take the most care of their hygiene, according to a survey by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) conducted on a representative sample of the population, between 25 and 79 years old, consisting of 803 consumers.

As part of its results, the following data: 61% rains every day, and the percentage rises to 80% if we talk about 4 or more rains in a week. Hygiene includes the use of all types of products, starting with toothpaste (used by 97% of those interviewed), passing shampoo (94%), followed by shower gel and deodorant (90%). and ended with hand cream, where there are significant differences between women (84%) and men (55%).

The survey also revealed the main reasons for choosing a personal hygiene brand. Price is the main purchase factor for shower gel and toothpaste; for hand cream and shampoo, it is the claim of health; and for deodorant, it is the duration of its effects.

Respondents also noted the most satisfactory brands in each category, which allows us to make a ranking among the main brands in the market, excluding private labels.

  • Among toothpastes, the brands with the highest satisfaction are Oral-B and Sensodyne, followed by Paradontax, Colgate, and Fluocaril. The respondents also pointed out that regular paste toothpaste is the most popular (28% use it), followed by the multi-action type (26%), the one indicated for sensitive teeth (20%), and the one reported to have whitening effects (14%).
  • When it comes to the choice of shampoo, the most satisfactory to users are those from the Herbal Essences and Elvive brands (L’Oreal), in addition to the Pantene brand. In this case, the most commonly used types are the shampoo for normal hair (24%), the anti-dandruff shampoo (17%), the repair shampoo (15%), and the one indicated for dyed hair (9%).
  • In the case of shower gel, the brands that got the highest satisfaction rating were Nivea, followed by Dove, Palmolive, and Sanex. It is a product commonly bought in supermarkets; only 9% of those surveyed bought it in cosmetic stores, and another 7% in pharmacies or para pharmacies.
  • When it comes to deodorants, four brands lead the satisfaction rankings: Nivea, Heno de Pravia, Dove, and Sanex. The most popular application format, by far, is the ball (56%), although one in three people surveyed prefers the spray format.
  • Among the hand creams, three brands lead with their good satisfaction ratings: Cerave, followed by Instituto Español, and Neutrogena. And although the supermarket or hypermarket is the most common retail establishments (for 60% of those surveyed), the cosmetic or perfume shop is another frequent choice (22%), as well as the pharmacy or para pharmacy (16%).

The survey also revealed that 17% of those surveyed experienced a mild reaction as a result of using a cosmetic or other product. in personal hygiene, although only half of them told their doctor or pharmacist.
