There are only four days left until registration ends for the Visa Lottery of 2025. In this article we tell you what mistakes you should not make in your registration.
The deadline for your registration for Bombo ends on November 7. If you are one of those who are planning to register these days, keep these details in mind so you don’t make a mistake.
Many applicants don’t do their research well before filling out the form – reading the frequently asked questions guide, for example – and often make mistakes that cost them the process.
Today, the Cuban Directory summarizes three common Visa Lottery mistakes:
1— Mistakes in name, surname or date of birth.
Although these errors do not directly affect the lottery applicant, because in the first phase it is impossible to check whether they have entered the data correctly, if you are a winner, inaccuracies in the form can lead to the refusal of a visa.
If there are small and insignificant mistakes (for example, letters and numbers are mixed up), the consular officer can ignore them. However, if there are more serious errors, such as a wrong date of birth, the consequences will be negative. In any case, everything will be decided at the consular interview.
2—Do not include all family members
If you have not registered all eligible family members on the form, or if you have added members you do not need, you may not get a visa at the interview. For example, if you are legally married, you must include your spouse, regardless of whether they live with you or not. These errors are considered serious. What family members should you include? Check out this article.
3— Inappropriate photos
Photos for Visa Lottery or Diversity Visas have specific requirements. But, perhaps the most important thing is that the photos you upload must have been taken within the last six months. If you present the same photo that you have used in other years, this will make you ineligible.
- It is important to meet the education requirement (12th grade for Cubans). If you lie at registration and they discover it at the consular interview, they will deny you the visa. Read the case of the Cubans who lost 20 thousand dollars after winning the lottery and were not approved in Guyana for having a ninth grade education.
- Fill out the form more than once. Each participant can only submit one form during a drawing. If the application is duplicated, it will be 100% disqualified.
- Register on a third party website. The only page to register for Bombo is https://dvprogram.state.gov/
