Health workers of the Samur-Civil Protection are treating three people who jumped from their apartments this morning due to a fire in the Madrid district of San Blas-Canillejas and 16 residents who suffered minor smoke inhalation , a spokesman for the Emergency in Madrid reported.
The fire, whose causes are still unknown, occurred at 7 am this Monday in the room of a house located on the second floor of a five-story building located at 18 Telémaco Street. It spreads throughout the house, which is broken by two facades. Only this floor was affected by the fire, but the smoke spread to the upper floors.
When the firefighters arrived, all the neighbors were looking out their windows for help, so they were told to stay in their houses for a while. Then, professionals escort them to the exit in a controlled manner, providing them with ventilation equipment.
But because of this situation, three neighbors, who were not in the apartment where the fire happened, jumped from the windows to the street. It is a 60-year-old mother and her 35-year-old daughter from the second, and a 50-year-old woman from the first. The first woman suffered a leg injury and severe abdominal pain, and her daughter suffered a lumbar trauma, for which they were taken to a potentially serious hospital. The third suffered a non-serious ankle injury.
Samur-Civil Protection health workers treated them, as well as 16 other neighbors with mild smoke poisoning and some anxiety attacks. They were given oxygen and released from the scene.
Municipal Police agents regulate traffic and facilitate the work of emergency teams on this very narrow road. At 9 am, firefighters continued to ventilate the affected homes.
