The second leg of the Semifinal of the Apertura 2023 championship of Liga MX between Tigres and Pumas ended, with the team from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León sealing their pass to the Final after drawing 1-1 on the field of the Universitario Stadium, winning in the series with a score of 2-1 overall and mockery for the loser appeared on social networks.
Although Universidad Nacional took the lead with a header from Uruguayan striker Gabriel Fernández, which made the Pumas dream of a Final against América, their biggest rivals, shortly after Juan Pablo Vigón equalized and released the madness of Volcán, allowing the Tigres to manage their advantage in the will to find the two-time championship.
The Pumas will be on vacation without completing the comeback mission as they did last week against Guadalajara. Coach Antonio Mohamed used everything available, but failed. In the early part Jesús Molina was missing due to injury, while Pablo Bennevendo was sent off for a foul on Diego Lainez.
Now the Pumas must wait to end their streak without winning the Liga MX title, which will be 13 years old next May, making them the ‘big’ club with the longest time without enjoying one championship. The other side of the coin was experienced by Tigres, who will now try to win the title at Águilas field as they did last semester at Chivas’ Akron.
