Another Final! Tigres continues to make history in the Liga MX Femenil after eliminating Rayadas in the semifinal of the Apertura 2023 with a score of 1-0 in the return match, thanks to the goal of Stephany Mayor.
Amazonas will play against América in their ninth final and go for the sixth title in their history, where they are the biggest in this category. Their opponent, Águilas, is already an old acquaintance in the series for the trophy since they faced each other twice: in Apertura 2018, won by Azulcremas, and in Apertura 2022, won by UANL.
Unrealized opportunities shine
In the 7th minute, Rayadas had to open the scoring due to a defensive error by the cats. However, Jermaine Seoposenwe shot wide of the goal, missing a great opportunity.
Tigres responded almost immediately, with a cross from the left by Liz Ovalle that Stephany Mayor headed straight into the hands of goalkeeper Pamela Tajonar in the 9th minute of action.
The Amazons wasted another game at 14′. Mayor reached the baseline and faced Tajonar, but he saved him. Still on the rebound, it was left to Nancy Antonio, but she sent the ball to one side.
Seoposenwe crashed the ball against the post, but the play was unnecessary, as there was an advanced position. In the 39th minute, the mayor inside the area gave the ball to Ovalle, who, closing the shooting angle, the ball went over.
With everything on the complementary side,
The mayor had the ball in that area; he tried to control it, and at the turn he lowered it, but he could not send the ball into the net in the 68th minute.
The goal finally comes in the 81′. Joseline Montoya crossed for Ovalle, and he finished, and although the ball seemed to cross the goal line, the refereeing team did not score the target after Tajonar saved. The ball was recovered by Tigres, and Montoya centered again for Mayor, who made a great shot to make it 1-0.
In the 85′, Ovalle had a shot inside the big area after an assist from the mayor, but the goalkeeper made an amazing save to avoid the second.
Rayadas continued to try even though he needed two goals, and in 87′ Chinwendu Ihezuo came with danger and crossed, but no one was able to close the clamp on a clear opportunity.
Tigres regained possession, and the last minutes went to Amazonas, who once again left Monterrey, and now they will experience another final, seeking to make their history greater.
