Tom Hanks Reveals Why He Can’t Stop Ruining His Fans’ Weddings

Tom Hanks shared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday why he’s become a serial aggressor at his fans’ weddings in recent years, whether “he’s invited or not.”

The Elvis actor who loves to take hilarious pictures of his supporters on their big day reveals why he has passion for the wedding collapses.

“It’s my out-of-control ego,” Hanks joked.

He added: “I just can’t help but think, ‘What would these people want more than anything to remember this magical day of days?’ Oh, I know I am!”

In March, Hanks stunned a bride when he teamed up with her wedding party outside a downtown Pittsburgh hotel for a photo op.

The group was about to leave the venue when the longtime actor drove up to join the photo shoot.

Bride Grace Gwaltney shared that she was shocked to see the star.

“He’s like, ‘Hey! I’m Tom Hanks. I would like to take a picture with you,” and I immediately froze and just looked around,” said Gwaltney. CCRA at that time. “I didn’t know what to do.”

Hanks, who the show’s host called “the man of many hats,” crashed so many weddings that Meyers showcased the actor’s best wedding moments during an episode, and some clips even date back to the early 2000s.

The movie heavyweight also explained that the time his love of weddings fizzled out internationally after he stumbled upon a bride’s wedding while filming 2009’s Angels & Demons in Rome.

Hanks told Meyers that the film crew was unaware that the wedding party had booked the location they were filming at, the Pantheon, on the same day.

“This limousine pulled up and it was the bride and groom trying to ‘get me to church on time,'” Hanks said. “And they couldn’t do it, because we had all this going on.”

“It was like, ‘Well, how do we fix this?’ So, like a stalker – you know, “Hey, miss, miss, miss!” “I knocked on the window, said, “Hey, listen, we have something, but would you do me the honor of walking you to your wedding altar?” That’s how we did it!” — recalled the actor.

Hanks then joked with Meyers that the couple may not have initially recognized him at the time due to his “chemically straightened hair,” he said, pointing to his hairstyle in a photo from the ceremony.

“I don’t like to think that I ruined the wedding. I rendered a service, ”added the presenter.

Elvis, which stars Hanks as the manager of the rock and roll icon, hits theaters Friday. Watch the trailer below.
