Traffic is affected on the N-120 route due to an accident in the Montefurado tunnel

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda (Mitma) will carry out a simulation of action and coordination between all the services involved (emergency services, firefighters, health workers, civil guards, tunnel managers, and civil protection) in the event of an accident involving firefighting and the evacuation of the injured and users of the Montefurado tunnel on the N-120 highway within the municipality of Quiroga, in the province of Lugo.

During the preparation and execution of the drill, traffic on the N-120 will be cut off and traffic detours will be established, guaranteeing the safety of users and emergency services. Therefore, traffic on the N-120 highway will be interrupted in both directions between km 476 (Montefurado) and km 483 (Bendilló) between 11:00 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, and 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18th.

Cuts and turns will be placed properly. In the traffic detour, all light vehicles and those heavy vehicles that are fit to circulate safely will be allowed to pass. For other unsuitable heavy vehicles, they are strictly restricted for the duration of the drill, and, until this, the conservation staff will be in charge of screening the vehicles unsuitable for circulation at the cut-off point.

The simulated incident consists of a collision between two passenger cars and a fire simulated by using a hot smoke machine.

Information note for the media

For security reasons, journalists are not allowed to enter the tunnel during the drill.

Traffic Diversion. Access To Montefurado (Pk 476 From N-120)
