Troopers: Cobbleskill couple charged with injured 7-month-old; Husband accused of injuring child

Kobleskill: A husband and wife of Kobleskill were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the injuring of a seven-month-old child. The state police gave this information.

State police said the husband, identified as 24-year-old Justin Van Alstein, of Cobbleskill, was charged with hurting the boy to the arm and leg in April 2020.

State police said he and his wife, Desiree R., 19, of Cobbleskill. Van Alstein was also accused of child abuse, accusing him of “failing to take preventive measures to ensure the safety of his 7-month-old son”. .

State police said the investigation began on April 14, 2020, when the child arrived at Albany Medical Center’s emergency department with multiple arm and leg fractures.

Soldiers said the hospital alerted the state police, who responded there.

Investigators interviewed Van Alstein about the nature and causes of the injuries. The state police said the charges surfaced this week after further investigation over 18 months.

Justin Van Alstein was put on trial and later released to return to court. Desyree Van Alstyne was released, too, to return to court later.
