Trump confirms he will turn himself into Georgian authorities

Former United States President Donald Trump confirmed he will turn himself into authorities in the state of Georgia on Thursday, August 24, where he is accused of allegedly attempting to reverse the results of the 2020 election.

Trump wrote in a message on his social network Truth Social that his “journey” to the city of Atlanta on Thursday would not be to commit murder but “to make a perfect phone call.”

The former president was referring to one of the main allegations in the allegation: the shot of Trump urging Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to win in the state.

In his message released on Monday, the former president renewed charges against the prosecutor in charge of the case, Fani Willis, whom he accused, as usual, of conducting a witch hunt against him.

It was also announced this Monday that Trump would have to post $200,000 bail to avoid jail time following his state allegation.

Payment of this bail will allow the Republican to regain his liberty once he turns himself in at the Fulton County (Georgia) jail.

Trump was indicted by a Georgia grand jury last week on 13 counts for attempting to rig the results of the state’s 2020 election, which was narrowly won by incumbent Joe Biden.

Among the crimes he is accused of is violating the RICO law, which is commonly used against mafia bosses and could carry a multi-year prison sentence if proven at trial.

This is Trump’s fourth criminal indictment. Two weeks ago, he was indicted by a Washington, DC, grand jury on four counts for allegedly attempting to overturn the result of the 2020 US election and promoting the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

In addition, Trump faced 34 counts in New York for paying porn actress Stormy Daniels, with whom he had an “affair” in the past, to buy his silence on the 2016 campaign.

The other criminal case takes place in Florida, where he faces 40 counts of illegally stealing and storing classified documents he took from the White House at his Mar-a-Lago mansion.
