Two children aged 1 and 8 were killed in a head-on collision between two small vehicles on kilometer 32 of the route connecting the town of Barros Arana to the Teodoro Schmidt commune.
This Monday two children died after a violent traffic accident that connects the town of Barros Arana to the Teodoro Schmidt commune in the La Araucania region.
According to police information, the fatal incident occurred at kilometer 32 of the aforesaid route at around 2:00 p.m., and involved a van and a car.
Overall, the balance of 10 injured were recorded. Two of these minors, aged 1 and 8 respectively, died at the Pitrufquen hospital, where they were transferred by SAMU personnel of that commune with the aid of ambulances from Freire and Temuco.
Juan Vidal, lieutenant of the Traffic Accidents Investigation Section (SIAT) of the Carabineros, confirmed the fact that two children had died.
According to information gathered by Radio BÃo BÃo, it was specified that the two children who died were traveling in a car with three adults and two other minors, who had received various injuries.
Two adults and an 8-year-old girl were traveling in the other vehicle, all of whom were injured to varying degrees. They were transferred to hospitals in Pitrufquen and Temuco.
Units of Barros Arana and Freire Firefighters worked at the scene of the accident, while the Carabineros adopted police procedure and gathered the background of the incident, informing the prosecutor’s office so that it could take the first steps.
