A fisherman from the area told the aforementioned media that the slain men were “innocent people who were not involved in any illegal activities.”
A shooting on a beach in Ecuador left two men dead and two others wounded, in an event recorded in the tourist area of the town of General Villamil, in the province of Guayas.
Local media outlet Expreso reported that the two deceased, identified as Nilo Flores and NN, were artisans and worked on boats in the Varadero area.
The incident happened around 7:00 in the morning, according to witnesses, who commented that the criminals arrived sailing in several boats.
One of the boats ran aground, and three men got out and fired their weapons at two artisans. One of them was shot in the head, and the other was shot in the chest.
At the same time, the criminals started shooting from other boats and injured two fishermen, who were hospitalized at a health center.
A fisherman from the area told the aforementioned media that the slain men were “innocent people who had nothing to do with any illegal activity.”
In addition, he commented that the attack could take place because of revenge, because the people who work in Varadero refuse to pay the extortion or “vaccinations” demanded by the criminal groups.
According to the police report, which was quoted by the media, the incident was said to be the result of an attack on the sea by five pirate boats.
The repetition of these acts of violence in Guayas keeps the residents worried, who say that the situation has become “unlivable” and that it only causes them to “run away.”
