Navarre won two awards at 30th edition of the Porc d’Or Awardsorganized by the Institute of Agricultural Research and Technology (WRITTEN BY), and which was held this Friday at the Llotja de la Congress Palace Lleida.
The exploitation of Mª Josefa Telletxea Gortari, in with vegetables, belonging to INDIA, won gold in the first category of Longevity; while the Sat 575 Na DÃaz de Zerio exploitation, in Vianafrom the company Piensos Costa, won gold in the third category of Numerical Productivity.
A total of 37 farms from seven communities Autonomous companies received 43 awards (40 general and three special awards) this year, in a gala full of emotions and nerves.
Aragon became the most awarded community, with a total of 13 figurines (6 for the province of Zaragoza, another 6 for Huesca and 1 for Teruel): 4 gold (including 1 for the new award for lactation management), 3 silver and 5 bronze. In addition, Huesca received the MAPA Porc d’Or Award for Sustainability, especially the Laguarres-Agropecuaria del Isábena farm, owned by Piensos Mazana, which stands for “excellent facilities”, measures of biosafety, optimal conditions of animal welfare and health and the improvements made in environmental matters.
They are followed by the autonomous communities of Galiciawith a total of 9 statues (7 for the province of Ourense and 2 para A Coruña): 4 gold (2 for lactation management award), 1 silver and 4 bronze; and Cataloniaalso with 9 awards (8 for Barcelona and 1 for the province of Girona): 2 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze, in addition to the Porc d’Or with Diamond, which went to Granja Solallong, by Joaquim Rovira Baucells, located in Sora (Barcelona). “The brilliant productive data maintained over time, the balance of the census, the excellent renovation and expansion of its facilities during these years, the meticulous management of the animals and the professionalism and dedication of group of people made by Granja Solallong to win the highest award”, they highlighted from the contest.
Castile and León won 7 awards (2 for Burgos,2 for Segovia2 for the province of Zamora and 1 para Soria): 4 gold (1 for the award for lactation management), 2 silver and the Special One Health Award from Ceva Salud Animal that went to Josvi Tejares farm, from SAT Hermanos Chico, located in Tejares de Fuentidueña (Segovia) .
From the farm of Josvi Tejares, the jury highlighted the “good work carried out consistently and proactively, a wide set of preventive measures that allow them to maintain a high state of health in their 25-year history as even the careful use of antibiotics in 2022; without forgetting the entrepreneurial mentality of the project leaders in the examined areas of management, biosafety, prevention, well-being and training to obtain this new award.
In this regard, Navarre y The Rioja They got 2 statues in each community, 2 gold in the case of Navarra while 1 silver and 1 bronze went to La Rioja. The list of winners was closed by Castilla-La Mancha, which took the bronze award for the province of Albacete.
PORC D’OR AWARDS
The Porc d’Or awards, annual and state-wide, are based on BDporc, the Pig Reference Data Bank, a tool managed by IRTA to provide reference information to pig production companies as an element to help create a decisions.
