New Amazon Fire TV Stick models filtered with interesting improvements

The listing of two new devices by the Federal Communications Commission suggests that Amazon could be about to launch two new Fire TV Stick models. What improvements would these bring?

Amazon is preparing to launch two new Fire TV Stick devices, marking the first official re-release of the series since 2021. Two new devices from the brand have reportedly received FCC (Federal Communications Commission) approval in the United States.

While they’re not specifically called the Fire TV Stick, all indications are that these new devices are part of Amazon’s popular line of media players for use on smart TVs.

One of these devices has the model number M3N6RA, and the other is K3R6AT. Both were classified as digital media receivers by Amazon, suggesting these are variants of the Fire TV Stick.

What is special about these devices is their compatibility with the latest WLAN technologies. The M3N6RA model seems to support WiFi 6, while the K3R6AT model has WiFi 6E support.

The This is significant as none of the current Fire TV Stick models support Wi-Fi 6E, and Amazon’s only streaming media device with this technology is the Fire TV Cube, which launched last year.

Amazon’s current Fire TV Stick lineup includes the Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick Lite, and Fire TV Stick 4K Max. The new models could replace one of the existing models and will be popular due to their support for WiFi 6E, likely positioning them as high-end models with support for 4K content.

A look at possible Fire TV Stick models for 2024

Although no detailed specifications have been announced, there is speculation that the new devices could be an update to the Fire TV Stick 4K. This would leave room for speculation about the second model, which could be a “Lite” version or a “Max” version of the current Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Janko Roettgers, who discovered these new devices, notes that the model numbers M3N6RA and K3R6AT suggest that this might be a replacement for the existing Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max models. This theory makes sense as Amazon has historically used model numbers similar to the codenames of its devices.

Amazon has scheduled an event for September 20, 2023, where the new Fire TV Sticks are expected to be officially unveiled. Until then, we’ll have to wait until we see the true specifications of the products.
