UCLA 2022 Football Schedule Starts Sept 3 With Bowling Green

Coach Chip Kelly and UCLA FC are not sure what their 2022 squad will look like as several key decisions have yet to be made, but the Bruins now have an idea of ​​what their schedule will look like.

The Bruins kick off their 2022 schedule, which was announced Thursday, as they did last season, with three non-conference games to kick off the year. Game start times and TV information will be announced several weeks prior to each game.

Bowling Green from the Mid America Conference will travel to the University of California, Los Angeles, where the Rose Bowl season kicks off on September 3.

The Bruins will play their first HBCU team in program history when Alabama arrives in Pasadena on September 10.

The date for this game was announced in February, when UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond posted a video of the signing of the contract on Twitter. When UCLA kicks off this game, USC and Notre Dame will be the only Football Bowl programs to have never played against a Football Championship rival.

UCLA will close the non-conference match against South Alabama next week. The Bruins will travel to Colorado on September 24 to kick off the Pac-12 game against former UCLA coach Carl Dorrell and his Buffalo Southern Division rival.

The Bruins will have their first goodbye week before playing Washington and new coach Calen DeBoer on October 1. DeBoer led Fresno State to a 40-37 non-conference win over UCLA at the Rose Bowl in September.

The game against the Husky will be the first of three Pac-12 programs on the schedule to have a new head coach appointed.

The Bruins will host Utah on October 8 and will visit Oregon in straight matches since their second goodbye week between them. Both teams have played in the Pac-12 Championship in two of the past three seasons.

Kelly and the Bruins will travel to Oregon with new coach Dan Lanning in Eugene on October 22nd. Lanning was hired on December 11, replacing Mario Cristobal after he became a coach in Miami.

Kelly confirmed on Wednesday that he received a call from Oregon and was considering the job but did not offer any further deals. This would be Kelly’s second time in Oregon.

This will be the last year of a two-year cycle in which the Bruins will play the Northern Duck and Husky. Washington and Oregon will play UCLA in 2023.

The Bruins will host quarterback Tanner McKee and Stanford on October 29, and will face Arizona at Tempe on November 5 for their last regular season away game outside of California.

Former Bruins defense assistants Johnny Nansen and Jason Kaufusi will return to the Rose Bowl with Arizona on 12 November. Former UCLA offensive coordinator and current Wildcats coach Jedd Fish hired Nansen and Kaufusi from Westwood this month.
