AJN Agency.- The Greek police on Tuesday destroyed a foreign terrorist who was operating inside the country and arrested two foreign citizens.
According to AFP, Israeli terrorists planned to attack Greece.
The terrorists were apparently planning to attack a Jewish synagogue, which also functions as a restaurant, located in the middle of Athens, Greek media reported.
Two of the terrorists were Pakistani nationals and the third was a suspected agent in Iran. He urged the Iran-based agent to carry out the attack and told them that he would give it to them.
According to a report from the Greek daily Kathimerini, the terrorists planned to attack with an explosive tank when they could not find guns.
On the other hand, unconfirmed Greek reports cited by the Israeli daily Ynet claim that Israelis were also targeted and that the Greek police were able to resist the terror attack with the help of an unnamed foreign intelligence agent.
The aid was later confirmed to have come from the Mossad, according to a statement from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office late Tuesday.
Mossad said it helped Greek authorities through intelligence reports about Iran’s terrorist activities in the country.
The intelligence officer said that he helped analyze Greece and disassemble the methods of operation of Iran to solve the mysteries of the underlying crime and the method of operation involved in the terrorist organization.
“This is another example of Iran trying to use terror against Israeli and Jewish targets abroad,” he said.
When were Pakistani citizens involved in terrorist attacks against Jews in the country?
This is not the first time that Pakistani citizens have been caught in an attack against Jewish targets in the country.
In 2021, several Pakistanis were arrested in Cyprus for planning an attack on Israel.
In 2022, Pakistani citizens also participated in an attempted bombing against Israel in Istanbul.
As a result, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs was placing members of the Pakistani community suspected of radical activities in custody throughout the country, allowing the Greek authorities to learn of this planned attack in Kathimerini.
