The Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Army carried out Operation ‘Citadel’ tonight, thanks to which they managed to destroy a platform over the Black Sea where Russia carried out the operation of its unmanned aerial vehicles, investigations and attacks.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, Russia took this maritime platform near Crimea months ago as part of the invasion that was released at the end of February 2022. There, Russian troops installed a series of antennas that amplify the signal to improve the operation of their drones. .
The aim of this installation in Russia is to expand the range of action of the Mohajer-6 drone, which is made in Iran and is used for terrain reconnaissance, to later enable more effective use of the Shahed kamikaze drone, which is also made in Iran and used by Russia in many of its attacks, according to Ukraine.
In addition, the Russian side also installed a series of radars on the platform to detect objects at sea, “from motor boats to ships”, and thus enable “monitoring of the situation in the northwestern part of the Black Sea,” it appears a statement from the Ukrainian Special Forces on Telegram.
“After careful planning and preparation, the group of the 73rd Marine Center of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces began the task of destroying enemy installations” in an area “constantly patrolled by the Russian aviation and navy,” Ukrainian detailed military authorities.
Therefore, the operation was carried out at night, when Ukrainian ships approached the maritime platform to carry out a raid and seize “important equipment of the enemy”, and later placed explosive charges of the main antennas.
“This successfully carried out special operation ensures the safer movement of ships and limits the capabilities of the enemy in the northwestern part of the Black Sea,” concluded the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Army.
