In recent hours, Ukrainian intelligence has denounced an alleged link between the enemy of Russia and one of the richest people in the world, the magnate and owner of SpaceX and X, among others, Elon Musk.
According to the information provided by the intelligence services of Kiev, Russia will exploit Starlink to have access to the internet. For its part, the American billionaire’s company denies any kind of relationship with Russia.
Until now, the Ukrainian troops were the only ones to benefit from the signal sent by Starlink in areas without telephone service. But recently, the Ukrainian Military Intelligence, HUR, claimed to have intercepted conversations with Russian forces where they used Musk’s platform to connect.
“The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the use of Starlink satellite communication systems by the Russians occupying the front,” he said on his Telegram account.
In particular, a radio interception of the attackers’ conversation showed that these terminals were used by the Russian 83rd Assault Brigade in the Donetsk region, near Klishchiivka and Avdiivka.
HUR even published an audio file, said to be from the Russian side of the front line, in which a man’s voice can be heard speaking in Russian, saying, “Starlink works; there is Internet.”
For its part, Musk’s company, SpaceX, assures that “it has never sold or sold Starlink in Russia, nor has it sent equipment to Russian locations,” as it announced through social network cases where the Starlink terminals are used without. permission and that it closes the terminal if necessary.
