In the first hour of Independence Day, fighters from the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down a helicopter belonging to the Russian invaders. This is reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“At about one o’clock in the morning of August 24, the Russian-occupied KA-52 helicopter was demobilized in the eastern direction by units of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!”, reads the message.
KA 52 (also known as “Alligator”) – a Russian combat helicopter, a command vehicle of army aviation, performing terrain reconnaissance, target designation and coordinating the tasks of a group of combat helicopters. The machine is capable of hitting armored and non-armored vehicles, manpower and air targets on the battlefield. This is a continuation of the development of the Ka-50 “Black Shark” model. The cost of the Russian helicopter is $16 million.
It is the latest unit of Russian combat aviation, which has been in production since 2008, and is equipped with a laser guidance system, an anti-tank missile system, aerial bombs and gun mounts with other weapons.
It will be remembered that the 182nd day of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine continues. Today, August 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day, marks exactly half a year of the Ukrainian nation’s heroic resistance to Russian aggression. The enemy continues to focus its efforts on establishing complete control over the territory of the Donetsk region, maintaining the Kherson-occupied districts, part of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya and Mykolaiv regions, and restoring the combat capability of the units that suffered losses. Russians continue to conduct air and missile attacks on civilian objects on the territory of occupied Ukraine.
