The arrival of the day of the year with the greatest commercial and logistical intensity is accompanied by protests by workers due to the poor quality of their work.
Next November 24 is Black Friday, one of the days of the year with the most logistics and commercial traffic. Its celebration as a joint event of major commercial discounts led the unions to also schedule their protests for that day.
In particular, the CCOO called strikes of one hour per shift for the next November 27 and 28, after ‘Black Friday’, and on the so-called CyberMonday due to “inadequate health protection of the work suffered by the workers.” “, the continuous problems of human resources management and salaries that do not recognize the responsibilities or the demands set by the company.” The distributor’s online sales channel H&M has its ownalthough in his case, on the same Friday.
The workers called to protest are about 20,000 in Spain and this was the first national strike called by the company, where there were remote mobilizations in its centers. The CCOO criticized that there have been “countless” complaints about the company’s lack of recognition of the ‘presumption of employment’ of various health injuries suffered possibly due to work.
The union points out that it has been proven, together with the Labor Inspection, that the Accident and Incident Management system implemented by Amazon “hides possible failures of safety measures” and the direct result of this is “the non-use of necessary preventive measures. “If the problem is not recognized, it cannot be solved, as simple as it is and as serious as it is,” he criticized.
Also, regarding the lack of availability of Human Resources to take care of the various claims, he indicated that it is “growing more complicated” and requires “a lot of time to find solutions” to the failures of collection and preparation of wages, lack of clarity in payroll concepts. , the difficulty in managing and not giving the permits to which workers are entitled, and errors in managing vacations and working hours.
The local human resources departments of each center increasingly “have fewer resources to properly carry out their mission and, in addition, the outsourcing of many of their processes has undermined and worsened the support provided by Amazon to us,” criticized the union.
Regarding the “inadequate” salaries relative to the responsibilities and demands of the position, the CCOO assured that Amazon pays the “sector minimum wage in each province, to the majority of our population”, which is not a “correct or fair” decision. However the company “gave us improvements”, in no case “compensates for what we need every day,” shows the union, which wants to remind the company that the regulations consider “the minimum working conditions, but Amazon requires us to provide the maximum and not in the minimum. “”.
Amazon’s reaction to these demands was immediate. “Our teams are all over Spain They now work in a modern, safe environment with competitive pay and benefits. Employees with an entry-level salary receive at least 1,400 euros per month and have opportunities to grow and develop their careers, “said the company. And they added that” .” year, including private health and life insurance, paid meals, highly paid parental leave, and employee discounts.
