University of Chicago scientists assess social cost of higher carbon emissions in the world

The innovative project is carried out by 30 scientists who monitor the effects of polluting gases in 195 countries around the world in real time. In addition to guaranteeing information on climate risks and generating the first empirical estimates of the social cost of carbon.

The ‘Climate Impact Lab’ is considered an essential tool to incorporate climate impact analysis in relation to its economic cost, which according to its creators will facilitate the formulation of policies and decision-making to reduce greenhouse gases .

At the time of the implementation of this invention, countries such as the United States promote carbon capture projects as another important mechanism in the fight against global warming.

Simone Stewart, an expert on industrial policy at the National Wildlife Federation, highlighted the importance of such methods to prevent the harmful effects of polluting gases present in human activities. ,Carbon dioxide removal is a process where carbon dioxide is removed directly from the atmosphere through nature-based solutions or through technological solutions. But too often these climate solutions look saturated. Trees, forests, oceans are saturated in this process, so we also have technical solutions such as direct air farming that allow us to remove CO2.

Stewart also proposes reducing emissions and increasing carbon sequestration. ,We believe this can be done through a combination of natural and technological solutions.”he insisted.
