At the same time, an American delegation of politicians, businessmen and representatives of charitable organizations was in Kiev with a priority to post-war reconstruction and development. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the delegation, which was led by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Welcoming Finland into NATO as the military alliance’s 31st member, the organization’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also underlined the support the alliance is offering to Ukraine: “Our meeting today underscored NATO’s ongoing commitment to Ukraine. Allies are raising arms.” and to fulfill its promise to produce ammunition and to train and ship new heavy weapons,” and issued an invitation: “A strong and independent Ukraine is vital to the stability of the Euro-Atlantic region, and we look forward to meeting President Zelensky at our Vilnius summit in July.”
