USA warns residents to ‘avoid travel to Australia’

Americans have been instructed to stay away from Australia after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention deemed the country’s COVID-19 levels “very high”.

The United States has asked residents to “avoid travel to Australia” after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention raised its rating for COVID-19 levels.

Australia joins a long list of countries deemed by the CDC to have “level four: very high” levels of the coronavirus, asking residents not to travel with residents visiting any of the countries on the list unless they have already been fully vaccinated.

“Due to the current situation in Australia, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk of acquiring and spreading COVID-19 variants,” the CDC website read.

“Travellers should follow recommendations or requirements in Australia, including wearing a mask and staying 6 feet away from others.”

Australia was one of 22 countries to join the “very high” levels of the coronavirus list this week.

There are more than 100 nations that the CDC considers to have “very high” levels of COVID-19, including Canada, Sweden, France and the United Kingdom.

For a country to be seen as having “very high” levels of COVID-19, it has to have an infection rate of more than 500 infections per 100,000 people in the past 28 days.

Australia currently has more than 708,000 active cases of coronavirus, according to government figures.

The CDC has explicitly asked residents to only travel internationally if they have been fully vaccinated.

The CDC website reads, “Vaccination is still the best way to protect yourself from serious illness, slow the spread of COVID-19, and reduce the number of new forms.”

“People who have not been fully vaccinated should follow additional recommendations before, during and after travel.”

Travelers traveling to the United States must show a negative COVID-19 test that was taken no later than 24 hours prior to travel.

The CDC confirmed that there was also an option for people who have been previously infected in the past 90 days and have recovered from COVID-19.

Once in the US, it is recommended that one obtain a COVID-19 test three to five days after arrival, monitor for symptoms and isolate immediately if they arise, and follow all state and local recommendations and requirements. Follow.
