Vaccination: This decision of the Modi government will now speed up vaccination in India

In the midst of another wave of coronavirus, the Indian government has taken a big step to accelerate vaccination in the country. The government has canceled a mandatory trial in India for a corona vaccine manufactured and used abroad. This step of the government will boost the import of foreign vaccines. The government has taken this step at such a time. Despite the second wave of corona in the country, 2 lakh new corona infections are being contracted every day and an average of four thousand people are dying every day.

The Russian vaccine Sputnik-V was also approved by the government as an emergency

In India, Covishield and Bharat Biotech-ICMR vaccine, developed and manufactured by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, are currently being used to vaccinate people. The Russian vaccine Sputnik V has also been declared an emergency by the government. But only a few lakh doses of vaccine have come from Russia and will be made in India in the coming days.

Exemption of good vaccines produced in other countries from local trials

The government has said it is in talks with Pfizer to import the vaccine as soon as possible. Apart from this, discussions have also been held with Johnson and Johnson and Modern. Last month, the Indian government promised speedy track clearance to foreign vaccines, but talks with Pfizer stalled due to a local trial. “Provisions have been changed to exempt good vaccines produced in other countries from local trials,” the government said in a statement.

Only 3% of the population in India still gets both doses

The government has also said that no vaccine manufacturer has yet applied for approval with India’s drug regulator. “We urge international vaccine manufacturers to come and produce in India for India and the world,” the statement said. More than 200 million doses of the vaccine have been placed in the country. But still only 3 percent of the population has received both doses.
