Vikings LB Eric Kendrick crashes out in fourth quarter of victory in Chicago

CHICAGO — Linebacker Eric Kendrick was knocked out in the fourth quarter of the Vikings’ 17-9 win at Soldier Field on Monday night, and head coach Mike Zimmer wasn’t too happy about it.

With Minnesota leading 17-3 and 9:30 in the game, Kendrick was disqualified after he hit Justin Fields’ helmet when Bears quarterback slipped to give himself to the Vikings 14. Was.

“I didn’t get a good explanation, really,” Zimmer said after the game. “They came in late and said they thought he had an elbow on his head. I thought I saw it pretty clearly, and I thought the quarterback slipped and kept his head up, and Eric was going down and trying to avoid it.” Raised my head to do it, and I thought they bumped heads. I didn’t think it was anything real (serious).”

A personal foul on Kendrick took the ball to 7, but the Bears were not able to score on that drive. He received a 19-yard touchdown pass in the final game from Fields to tight end Jesper Horsted.

Horstead, a second-year NFL player, is a former Roseville High School football star who went on to an illustrious collegiate career at Princeton.

Vonam Steps UP

Vikings defensive end DJ Vonum disappointed Fields overnight, and he had a career-high three sacks.

“The DJ kid who keeps trying to get better every week,” Zimmer said. “He’s very athletic and can do a lot of things, and I think he’s starting to come a little bit more where he’s becoming a little bit more independent, and not so robotic. So I think maybe from that. He’s getting help.”

Vonam equalized his sack total for the first 13 matches of the season on Monday.

“It sounds amazing, man,” Wonnam said. “I put work off season, and every week I get better. I keep getting better and better, and tonight was the night to do it. Primetime, there’s no better time to do it. Three sacks, right now.” So that was the beginning. I am ready to get better and I am looking forward to the next match.”
