The Villar Hermanos restaurant was pulled out of an investigation by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) into the death of a doctor in May after he allegedly ate fish at the establishment.
Following the results of toxicological and microbiological analysis performed by the Human Consumption Product Evaluation Laboratory on food samples taken from the above business, their connection with Galena’s death was ruled out.
According to Leandro Villanueva, Deputy Minister of Human Consumption, the samples collected were tested for the detection of toxic substances and contaminants, including chemical products harmful to human health, but the results of the above tests showed no toxic substances. “In addition, a microbiological analysis was carried out of samples of cooked food taken at the Hermanos Villar restaurant, with the aim of identifying the presence of pathogenic microorganisms or harmful bacteria that could have caused the incident and the results of this analysis were also Negative” Villanueva clarified.
Finally, no evidence was found to suggest that food collected by Health Zone V was involved in causing the pathologist’s death, as it did not contain toxic substances or be microbiologically contaminated.
With respect to the case, the MPS considers it important that the competent authorities continue to investigate and gather additional information that may shed light on this tragic incident.
