The airline you will fly introduced its “Volaris Annual Pass” program, which includes the purchase of one virtual badge known as NFTs (non-fungible tokens), taking a new step to stay on top of digital innovation.
The annual pass allows the holder to fly as much as possible to more than 70 destinations in Mexico over a year, including the USA, Central America, and South America, as well as be holders of these badges, which can be purchased at a special price in advance on the opensea.io platform.
The company clarified that this promotion does not involve the payment of the airport usage fee (TUA), just like someone else’s other tax charged for the trip or stay.
He pointed out that the first edition from the Volaris Annual Pass Collection consists of 10 never-before-seen NFT designs honoring some of the company’s most representative destinations, such as Cancun, Bogota, Tijuana, CDMX, Los Angeles, Chicago and Peru30 of them will be sold.
“It was with great enthusiasm that we became the first airline in Mexico to dive into the exciting world of NFTs and immerse ourselves in Web 3.0. Through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies like blockchain,” said Daniel Gelemovich, director of marketing and digital at Volaris.

An NFT is a digital certificate of authenticity that proves that something is unique and owned by someone within Web 3.0.
“For your level of encryption, which, in turn, stands for data security and control, NFTs use the same technology as cryptocurrencies; Unlike these, however, NFTs cannot be shared, but they can be bought and sold“, he added.
He specified that this is not possible to counterfeit or replace and has become an exclusive collector’s item of great value, and that most disruptive companies in the market have started using it creatively in a variety of ways.
